This song has a colourful if not checkered history. It was one of the first songs I ever wrote in 2006 using a very simple Yamaha keyboard. It was to be recorded for a film soundtrack in 2007 but, due to health reasons, that didn't eventuate. Actually, I think they may have used the original demo but I'm not sure as I never saw the completed film. The song was revived for an original musical in 2012 which sort of fizzled out as not many people came to watch it, though the musical was staged and as far as I know, some people liked it. I've recorded it many times (sometimes shockingly) but nevertheless I have THIS recording which I'm pleased with. Hopefully some people like it. It's basically about vulnerability, femininity, and expectations/ideas of what one should be versus the reality of who one actually is. That maybe the need to chop and change who we are to suit others ideas isn't what is needed. In the search for identity, maybe we have to just realise who we are as individuals. We simply exist as ourselves.
